With less than a month to go until the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, our excitement is ramping up at the prospect of meeting artists who are bringing their innovative work to the Festival for the first time. But we love the sight of familiar faces, too — faces whose love of independent film keeps them returning to the Fest year after year.
Our love of Festival alums has us thinking back to 2013, when Sundance veterans Julie Delpy and Richard Linklater returned with the third installment of Linklater’s Before trilogy, the first of which — Before Sunrise — premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in 1995. Check out the video below to hear Delpy and Linklater discuss the premiere of Before Midnight (which they co-wrote with Ethan Hawke) and how the trilogy has evolved since its Sundance debut nearly 20 years prior.
